Veterans Day is November 11th, 2025.
On November 11th, we honor those who have served in our armed forces. You will see many companies that post similar honors and that is commendable. The more that realize the incredible impact our Veterans have made on our daily lives can never be understated or much worse, forgotten.
My paternal Grandfather Julius served in WWI rising to the rank of Sergeant in the Army. My maternal Grandfather Mike, served in WWII in the Navy and the Pacific Theater. Both were proud of their service but also pretty quiet about it. My father Ray served in the Army when the Berlin Wall was being built. My father-in-law Tom served in Korea and currently my nephew Joe serves in the Army National Guard as a Captain after a deployment to the Ukraine.
What strikes me the most is that right now in any place in the world, there are over 2.8 million active military keeping us safe and conducting acts of bravery that will never be known or celebrated.
I hope the next time you are tempted to celebrate an influencer or social media post about something trivial, you rethink and take time to thank a veteran or an active service member as they really deserve our time and appreciation.
Lastly, it is everyone’s responsibility and especially those who were not able to serve to assist those who did. Good news is that there are many great organizations doing great work for our veterans. Calling 988 is the Veteran Crisis Line and it is confidential and 24/7 or dial 211 to find local agencies that provide emergency services to Veterans.
West Bend Transit is a proud member of the ESGR- the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and its motto is We All Serve. Nothing in my mind could be truer. Visit them at www.esgr.mil for additional resources.
God Bless our Veterans, our Armed Forces and the U.S.A!
